Child Saving Institute Hires New Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Appoints New Program Director

January 5, 2021

Child Saving Institute (CSI) welcomes Alicia Theilen, the Mental Health Services team’s first Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. The addition of Theilen expands the behavioral health offerings for children. Additionally, CSI promotes Katherine Hubbard to Director of Early Childhood Education.

Theilen brings with her more than 16 years of training and clinical experience in pediatric home health care, neonatal intensive care, emergency medicine, post-partum, medical/surgical and oncology. She holds a master's degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and is currently working on her postgraduate certificate in Psychiatric Mental Healthcare.

Theilen is excited to join the CSI team and help the agency to realize its mission, Responding to the cry of a child. Using her passion and expertise, she will listen to children and families without judgement, help children and families develop attainable goals and work to decrease the stigma of mental health. Her practice is located at 4545 Dodge Street in Omaha and appointments are scheduled by calling 402.553.6000 or emailing CSIReferrals@childsaving.org.

Hubbard joined CSI in the Early Childhood Education Center in 2009 after graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor's degree in Child, Youth and Family Studies. Shortly after, she took on an Early Childhood Specialist position as a lead teacher working in a multi-age classroom with infants and toddlers. In 2013, Hubbard was promoted to Site Director of the Early Childhood Education Center located at 45th and Dodge Streets in Omaha. Hubbard will assume the Director of Early Childhood Education role in January 2021, and oversee the Dodge Street campus and the Spellman Child Development Center located on the College of Saint Mary campus.

Hubbard is a stellar member of the CSI staff and welcomes this promotion with excitement. She enjoys building relationships with staff, children and families and she believes in quality education for young learners. She enjoys advocating for early childhood education professionals, as well as sharing the quality-services that CSI has to offer to the Omaha community.

To inquire about enrolling your child in either of CSI’s Early Childhood Education locations, please email earlychilded@childsaving.org or call 402.504.3671.
