Child Saving Institute is Bringing Together the Community to Protect Children

April 22, 2020

In response to these uncertain times, Child Saving Institute (CSI) made the very difficult decision to cancel its signature fundraising event, Cabaret 2020, and adjusted its annual Dough in the Toe fundraising appeal for the first time in the organization’s 128-year history.

Without these two primary fundraising efforts, the agency will face a negative financial impact. Despite the uncertainty that the community, state and nation face due to the COVID-19 outbreak, CSI continues services to those who need it most.

During stressful economic uncertainty, those who are most vulnerable will suffer the most. “We know that when stress within a family increases, incidents of domestic violence and child abuse can increase,” said CSI President & CEO, Peg Harriott. “We need to be there for those children who are isolated from their friends, their beloved teachers and their caring therapists,” she adds.

To ensure continuity of care for its clients, CSI has shifted to telecommunications to deliver services virtually when face-to-face interaction is not appropriate or feasible. Children and families continue to receive mental health, foster care and prevention services.

With the loss of revenue from cancelled events, the organization is seeking assistance from the community.  “Now, more than ever, your donation will help save lives,” says Harriott. Money raised during this time will go to direct services to ensure CSI continues to carry out its mission of Responding to the cry of a child.

Anyone interested in supporting CSI can do so by making a donation at www.childsaving.org.  For other ways to help children and families, visit the CSI website or contact Chief Development Officer Andrea L.
