Meet the Early Childhood Education Program Leaders
Director of Early Childhood Education
Mary’s experience in early childhood education includes her most recent work of providing training and technical assistance to Early Head Start and Head Start programs across Nebraska. She held this position for over six and a half years. She also has operated Early Head Start and Head Start programs for 11 years. She has experience with child care licensing and child care subsidy. Early in her career, Mary worked with at risk youth.
Her education includes a master of science degree in education with a specialization in early childhood education. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, with minors in education and sociology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Mary also has taken early childhood special education courses and served on the Nebraska Interagency Coordinating Council.

Early Childhood Education Center, 45th & Dodge Campus
Katherine joined Child Saving Institute as an early childhood teacher in 2009 after graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor's degree in family science. She spent her time at Child Saving Institute in the Grampy Tom Neighborhood, working with infants and toddlers until her promotion to her current position as site coordinator of the Early Childhood Education Center in July 2013.
Katherine’s favorite part about working in the early childhood field is watching children meet goals and milestones. She also strives to develop strong, positive relationships with the children and families that Child Saving Institute serves.

Spellman Child Development Center, College of Saint Mary Campus
Brenda joined Child Saving Institute in 2018 as the site director for Spellman Child Development Center. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, with a minor in Mathemaics from the University of Northern Iowa. She also has an Early Childhood Endorsement from Buena Vista University. She has worked in the Early Childhood field for over twenty years. Her most recent time was as an assistant director of another child development center. She has spent many years in the classroom where she taught Kindergarten, Pre-K, infants and toddlers, and lead a summer school age program.
Brenda’s favorite part about working in Early Childhood is helping children succeed and reach their developmental milestones. She builds positive relationships with the children and families to provide high quality care in our community.
