Volunteer Opportunities

Join Child Saving Institute and volunteer your time and passion helping children! We offer many ways for you, your family, and your colleagues to share your time and talent by volunteering at Child Saving Institute.

Administrative Support

Child Saving Institute appreciates the many volunteers who assist in our offices with mailings, filing, and other general office work. Administrative volunteers save the agency employee wages, allowing those funds to be used for the important programs that help children.

AUNTYs

We invite you to join AUNTYs — a Giving Circle group of women who meet during the year at a restaurant of their choice or at Child Saving Institute where they learn about the agency and vote on how to use their annual funds to support children. This is a fun place to meet women who care about children while making a big difference in the lives of children.

Host a Baby Shower for the Child Saving Institute Baby Bucks Boutique

A fun way to support young parents is to host a baby shower, which provides much-needed items for the Child Saving Institute Baby Bucks Boutique.

The Baby Bucks Boutique is full of brand new baby essentials for parents in the Teen and Young Parents Program. Young Parents earn points for participating in the program as well as other things that are good for them or good for baby such as attending school, reading parenting books, taking baby to well checks, etc. The boutique is full of diapers, wipes, sleepers and even some big-ticket items such as high chairs, strollers, and pack ‘n plays.

Donate Items for Children’s Backpacks

The Triage Center at Project Harmony donates a backpack to each child who passes through The Triage Center. Items include (travel size where applicable):

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Soap
  • Brush/Comb
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Lotion
  • Chapstick
  • Deodorant
  • Random fun things like stuffed animals, fuzzy blankets, coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, play dough, etc.

Event Support

Event volunteers join Child Saving Institute’s annual fundraiser, Cabaret, and assist with registration and event setup and cleanup. Also, volunteers support other events such as Touch-A-Truck and Substitute Santa. Volunteering at events is a great avenue for engagement while meeting other people in our community who care about kids!

Nature Playground and Outdoor Activities

  • Help maintain the beautiful Nature Playground, which is located at Child Saving Institute.
  • Keep the Child Saving Institute grounds pristine and well maintained and help with other activities as needed.

Sponsor a Fundraising Event

Engage your company and support kids! Many employees in the Omaha area have chosen Child Saving Institute as their charity of choice and have organized wonderful activities – the possibilities are endless!

  • A local insurance company donated their ‘jean’s day’ proceeds to support the kids of Child Saving Institute;
  • One company invited Child Saving Institute to speak to their monthly employee gathering and organized an employee giving campaign;
  • Golf proceeds of one local company has supported the programs and services of Child Saving Institute kids for three consecutive years.
  • Does your company have a matching gift program? Including a company matching gift with your annual gift is a wonderful way to maximize your giving while supporting children

Invite your staff and come in for a tour of our agency to learn how we are making a difference in the lives of children and families. Partnering to help children is a terrific team-building exercise!

Organize a Year-End Toy Drive

Through Child Saving Institute's Substitute Santa program, you, your family, and/or company can put the happy in Happy Holidays for hundreds of children and teens who live in our community. Whatever holiday you celebrate — Christmas, Hanukkah, the winter solstice, Kwanza, or something else — helping Child Saving Institute's kids have a happy holiday and childhood is a big job and we absolutely could not do it without you!

Join the Child Saving Institute Guild

Through the efforts of many impassioned Child Saving Institute Guild members, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been raised through the years to benefit children and families throughout the Omaha metro area. We invite you to join this committed group of volunteers! Learn more...

Program Volunteers

Thank you to our valuable volunteers who work with children and youth in Child Saving Institute’s care. Volunteers must be at least 19 and receive training to prepare for different volunteer positions. This includes our much-valued Parent Education Partners who provide childcare Wednesday and Thursday evenings, allowing parents to participate in parenting classes and engage in Foster Parent Networking.
