Families can find brighter futures here, even when the future seems uncertain. At CSI, children and families find support for emotional confidence and empowerment every day.
That was true for Clara and her daughter, Joy. When Clara made the difficult decision to leave an abusive relationship, she wasn’t sure where she and her daughter would turn or how they would rebuild.
Then she found CSI. Here, she began to heal. Through CSI’s Family Empowerment Program, mental health support and early childhood education, Clara found the tools, hope and community she needed to rebuild a life free of domestic violence.
This combination of CSI programs and support is not unique to Clara’s family.
Last year, CSI helped 147 parents and children fleeing domestic violence find safety, just like Clara and Joy.

$5,000 provides 40 therapy sessions for children healing from trauma.
$2,500 provides 10 weeks of activities that help families rebuilding after violence reconnect and make new memories together.
$1,000 helps 10 mothers keep the utilities on, providing a stable home for their children as they work toward safety and independence.
$500 transforms a new house into a safe home with a mattress, bedding, cleaning supplies and secure locks for a family starting over.
$250 provides two nights of emergency shelter for a mother and her children fleeing domestic violence.
$100 provides a counseling session for a family taking their first steps toward healing after crisis.
$50 provides a two-week bus pass, helping a parent safely get to work, school, healthcare and other essential services.
$25 provides laundry detergent and other everyday essentials, giving a family one less thing to worry about as they start over.

What Is Substitute Santa?
Not every parent can afford to fill the space under the tree—but every child deserves to feel the magic of the holidays.
CSI’s Substitute Santa Toy Drives help bridge that gap. Donors drop off new, unwrapped toys and gifts at Child Saving Institute. The following week, our program staff “shop” the donations on behalf of the families they serve, selecting gifts that match each child’s interests and needs. Parents then wrap and give these gifts to their children—some from Santa, others from Mom or Dad.
