With Heart and Humanity: A Labor of Love at CSI

By August 20, 2025No Comments

On Sunday, July 21, we gathered in front of our building to unveil With Heart and Humanity, a stunning new sculpture created by nationally acclaimed artist Littleton Alston. All week, we’d been watching the weather with the nervous hope that the rain would hold off. Instead, the day arrived hot and bright—its warmth matched only by the energy and support radiating from our community.

The sculpture, which takes inspiration from our logo and tagline, is more than a piece of art—it’s a reflection of the spirit that drives our mission. “It was really a labor of love,” Alston shared, “to not only do a work that would represent CSI and its mission, but also the children.” He pointed out that the piece is not flat, but full, with cutouts of children—like little paper dolls—that capture their playfulness and joy.

Our president and CEO, Jaymes Sime, shared that what excites him most is “seeing all the variations” in how people—especially young kids—will interpret the sculpture. That openness to imagination is what makes With Heart and Humanity so powerful. It stands as a physical embodiment of who we are, inviting connection and inspiring growth. It’s a permanent reminder of our purpose to champion what’s best for each child and family, and of the values that guide us: humanity, perseverance and growth.

We invite you to visit With Heart and Humanity, to linger with it, take in its details, and consider what it means to you. This work is now part of the history of CSI, a marker of our shared commitment to children and families and a beautiful symbol of what can happen when a community comes together with heart and humanity.

If our mission resonates with you, there are multitude of ways to get involved. Whether by volunteering your time or making a gift, your support helps us continue championing what’s best for each child and family.
